Permits may be required under the following Acts:

  • Wildlife Act 1975
  • Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988
  • National Parks Act 1975 ( for research on flora, fauna, soil, water and invertebrates).

Some research proposals may first require Animal Ethics Committee approval to ensure consistency with the objectives of the Wildlife Act 1975, the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988, the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986 and any other relevant legislation.
